The Plastic Ocean

Plastic pollution has become the big problem of our time. Daily, hundred thousands of tons of plastic garbage is dumped into the oceans, where it is (very slowly) falling apart. It crumbles up into minuscule parts ending up in the bellies of marine wildlife. Gulls, whales, dolphins and all fish are "eating" plastic. Plastic is filling their digestive tracts making it impossible for real food to pass through. The results are deadly.

Every beach, every coastline is today polluted with plastic articles. Plastic bottles, shards of plastic and pieces of Styrofoam are common finds along the coast. Much of that is going to re-enter the ocean with the tides and winter storms.

CAMPOBELLO SIGHTSEEING will participate in a small way to clean up local beaches. Therefore we have scheduled a beach-clean-up-walk on Monday June 25 from 8:30am to 9:30am. You are invited to come along. Besides of transport to the beach, we will provide garbage bags and gloves for you.

Do what our dog Dixie is doing: Pick up plastic garbage on June 25. Meet us in the parking lot of the Roosevelt Campobello International Park for this free educational Beach Walk.
