Let me introduce you to one of our most natural beaches, the one around lower Duck Pond. It's not a groomed beach. In the contrary, you will have to step over round and rolling rocks until your legs can relax on smoother ground. Your views will be filled with strewn-around drift wood, with old tree stumps and some dead tree trunks at the edge of the forest. And you can look across to Maine and a fishing boat may pass along. Seabirds and songbirds will be bountiful along your walk. Have you seen the little lake behind the beach? Ducks paddle around there, well that's before the ice covered it.
It's November 24 when we take our dog along here. One more month to Christmas Eve. The last days have been blistering cold, but today the sun is out, it's way above freezing and we have dressed too warm. A slight sea breeze greets us as we venture along. I pick up a round rock, it's smaller than a golf ball, and entirely round. The works of nature.
Remember, Campobello stays open year round. Call us for infos on how to get here, where to stay and what to do.
